- Öva praktiskt i lagliga, avsedda labbmiljöer.
- Beskriva grundläggande försvarsåtgärder och incidenthantering.
- Orientera sig bland branschens certifieringar och karriärvägar.
Kursstruktur: 12 moduler + avslutande projekt.
Course Overview
Course description: This course provides a broad introduction to cybersecurity with a focus on ethical hacking (penetration testing). Participants gain an understanding of how attackers think and operate, the tools and methods used in the industry, and — just as importantly — the legal and ethical framework that governs all security testing work. The course is structured so it can be delivered as standalone lesson sessions, a weekend course, or a longer evening-class program.
Target audience: People with a general interest in IT and basic computer literacy. Suitable both for beginners who want to understand cybersecurity from the ground up and for IT professionals looking to branch into security.
Prerequisites: Basic computer use. No prior security or programming experience is required, though basic networking knowledge is helpful.
Learning outcomes: By the end of the course, participants should be able to:
- Explain core information security concepts (the CIA triad, threat modeling, risk management).
- Describe the legal and ethical framework around security testing in Sweden and the EU.
- Describe common attack types and how they work at a conceptual level.
- Explain the general methodology of penetration testing (reconnaissance, scanning, gaining access, reporting).
- Identify common industry tools and their purpose.
- Practice hands-on in legal, purpose-built lab environments.
- Describe basic defensive measures and incident response.
- Navigate the industry's certifications and career paths.
Course structure: 12 modules plus a capstone project. Each module includes learning objectives, core content, discussion questions/exercises, and suggestions for further reading. Recommended time is 1.5–2 hours per module, for a total course length of roughly 20–24 hours.
Assessment: A short knowledge check after each module (formative, not graded), plus a final capstone project (see Module 12).
